Help & Support
Acre by Acre · a cozy tractor farming game
Common questions
How does saving work?
The game saves automatically as you play, on your own device, right after each thing you do and again when you close or leave the game. You don't need an account. It also keeps two recent backup copies; if a save is ever damaged, the game brings back the last good one and tells you, and never deletes the damaged copy. Optional Save & sync (Menu → Save & sync) lets you sign in with your email and a 6-digit code to back up your farm and play it on another device. It is still being set up, so for now the menu says "Coming soon" and your farm lives only on the phone, tablet or browser you play on.
Deleting the app, or clearing this website's data in your browser, deletes the farm on that device (if you signed in, the copy in your account stays). To start over on purpose, use Menu → Sell the Farm.
The website's address is now playacrebyacre.com. The old address, acre-by-acre.netlify.app, still works. Browsers keep a separate save for each web address, so a farm you started on the old address stays there and doesn't show up on the new one. Keep playing on the address where your farm is. Once Save & sync is switched on, you can sign in on both to move your farm across. The iPhone app isn't affected.
How do I sign in, sign out or delete my account?
Once Save & sync is switched on: open ☰ Menu → Save & sync, tap Sign in with email, enter your email and type the 6-digit code we send you. There's no password. Your farm then backs up by itself as you play.
On a second device, sign in with the same email and your farm loads. If both devices have different progress, the game shows both farms (level, Farm Bucks, field size and when each was saved) and lets you pick. Nothing is overwritten until you choose, and the other farm is kept on the device as a one-step backup.
The Home Screen version of the website keeps its own storage, separate from Safari, so sign in once there too. Sign out keeps the farm on the device. Delete account permanently deletes your account, email address and cloud save; the farm on the device you're holding stays.
How do I play sideways (Landscape mode)?
Open ☰ Menu → Settings and turn on Landscape mode. Off means the game follows your phone; On means it always plays sideways.
In the iPhone app the screen locks to landscape. In Safari on iPhone, web pages can't lock the screen, so if you hold the phone upright the game turns itself sideways. Just turn your phone to match.
How do I turn sounds or vibration on or off?
Open ☰ Menu → Settings and use the Sounds and Vibration switches. Your choice is saved. Vibration works in the iPhone app and in browsers that support it; Safari on iPhone does not allow websites to vibrate.
How do I drive and look around?
Press and hold Drive to roll, and drag on the field with your other thumb to steer. When you're not holding Drive, drag the map to look around and pinch to zoom. Tap a ripe crop or tree to pick it, and tap the shed, silo or farmhouse to use them.
Can I tap squares instead of driving over them?
Yes. Pick Plow, Plant, Water or Harvest in the tool bar, then tap any square of your own field to work just that one. It costs and earns exactly the same as driving over it. If the tool doesn't fit the square (say, planting on unplowed ground) you'll get a short tip like "Plow this square first". Dragging still moves the map, and while you hold Drive your other thumb still steers.
How long until my crops and trees are ready?
Hover over a growing crop or tree with a mouse, or tap it on a phone or tablet, to see a small timer, for example "Sweet Corn · ready in 1:12". Trees show "matures in" while young and "ready in" for the next fruit. The timer is an estimate: it updates as the weather, season and watering change. Unwatered crops grow at half speed (the tip says "Water to grow 2x faster"), and fruit trees rest in winter.
Base times for a watered crop in normal weather (minutes:seconds): Wheat 0:50, Sweet Corn 1:30, Soybeans 2:05, Strawberries 2:50, Sunflowers 3:40, Pumpkins 5:40. Trees take this long to grow up, then to grow each new crop of fruit: Apple 6:30 / 2:10, Cherry 7:50 / 2:35, Peach 9:05 / 3:00, Pear 10:25 / 3:30, Plum 11:40 / 3:55. Each crop's favourite season makes it 25% faster, Fertilizer upgrades help too, and the Crop guide in the menu shows the same times.
Can I move my farm land around?
Yes. Open ☰ Menu → Move land. Green squares show where land can go. On a phone, tap a square to pick it up, then tap a green spot to put it down; with a mouse, just drag it. Whatever is on the square (soil, crops, water, trees and their growth) moves with it. Tap Done when you're finished. Farming and driving pause while you move land, but you can still drag the grass to look around.
Land can't go on the farmyard, the lane, buildings, the pond, the edge of the map, another square or the next plot for sale, and fruit trees still need a free square around them. When you buy more land, new squares fill the nearest free spots. Reset layout (in the Move land bar or the menu) puts every square back in its original place, keeping what's on it, after you confirm. The shed, silo, farmhouse and pond stay where they are.
Does the game cost anything or show ads?
The game is free to play, with no ads, and signing in is optional. Everything in the game can be earned by playing. The iPhone and Android apps have a Shop in the menu with optional extras. It only opens when you tap it:
- Farm Pass (one-time purchase): paint jobs for every tractor, farmyard decorations (a fence, flower boxes and a scarecrow), a supporter sign, and a one-time gift of 1,000 Farm Bucks.
- Tip Jar: a thank-you that helps support the game. It doesn't unlock anything.
- Farm Bucks packs: 1,000 or 3,000 Farm Bucks.
Prices are shown in your local currency in the Shop. The website has no purchases.
How do I restore my Farm Pass on a new phone?
Sign in to the same Apple ID or Google account you bought it with. Then open ☰ Menu → Shop and tap Restore Purchases. The paint jobs, decorations and supporter sign come back. The 1,000 Farm Bucks gift is only given once, so restoring doesn't give it again.
Farm Bucks packs and tips are used up when you buy them, so the store can't restore them. To keep your Farm Bucks on another device, use Save & sync.
What happens to bought Farm Bucks if I sell the farm?
They come with you. Sell the Farm starts a new farm, but any bought Farm Bucks you haven't spent carry over, and the Farm Pass stays yours. The confirmation tells you how many Farm Bucks will carry over. Bought Farm Bucks never expire. When you spend, Farm Bucks you earned by playing are used up first.
How do I get a refund?
Apple and Google handle all payments, so refunds go through them. On iPhone or iPad, go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple ID. On Android, open Google Play, go to Payments & subscriptions → Budget & order history, or see Google Play's refund help. We can't issue refunds ourselves because we never see your payment details. If a purchase didn't arrive, try Restore Purchases or reopen the app first, then email us.
